2005 Celebrating Success in Child Care and Early Childhood Programs Awards Ceremony Write Up

John Dingle knows soccer, but more importantly, he knows kids.  He introduces kids from the age of four to the sport in a creative, fun, and non-competitive way.  Too often, children (and their parents) feel that the priority of a sports program is winning.  I have never heard "Coach John" lose his temper, raise his voice, or express frustration with the very active preschoolers he coaches.  He models appropriate behaviors at all times.  He encourages the children to have positive interaction with each other, and take responsibility for their actions.  He is quick to point out a child who has mastered a skill, but not at the expense of those who are still struggling.

John cares about the kids as people.  He wants them to succeed and feel a sense of accomplishment.  He takes the time to look at every book, doll, or stuffed animal they bring to show him.  He makes them feel like they matter.  John is one of those adults who makes a lasting impression on the children he interacts with by teaching them lessons they can carry through their lifetimes.

My son Alex, now aged 8, attended the all day camp last summer and he enjoyed it very much.  We drove him to camp from our home in Anne Arundel County because we heard great things about your program, and also so he could attend with his good friend Joe.  When soccer season began in the fall my husband and I were amazed at the growth in Alex’s playing skills.  It was quite dramatic.  I just wanted to let you know that the camp was such a positive experience for my son, and we plan to make the commitment again this year because it was so worth it.

Thank you for the work that you are doing with these kids!

My son attended camp for the first time this week. He didn't know what to expect but after 5 days he does not want it to end. He has worked hard, enjoyed playing soccer and improved his game greatly this week.

Thank You
Mitch

My daughter looks forward to this camp every spring. She learns alot and has a blast.

Playing competetive soccer is very demanding and the Training for Excellence camp has really helped raise the level of my kids play. The coaching staff is extremely knowledgable and able to effectively teach technical skills that are necessary to be successful in game play.

I wanted to thank you and your staff. My children, Kyle(U9) and Alex(U7) enjoyed the spring break camp very much. I signed them up for the Aug. 2nd one as well.

Thanks
Michelle
